Frequently asked questions
BabyBites, answered
Common questions about supported ages, feeding styles, food safety, introducing allergens, and getting the app. For deeper reading, see our feeding guides.
What ages does BabyBites support?
BabyBites supports families beginning solids around 6 months, then adapts recipe textures, serving guidance, and food suggestions as babies grow through 24 months and beyond.
Does BabyBites support both baby-led weaning and purees?
Yes. Choose Purees, Baby-Led Weaning, or Both during onboarding. Recipes and preparation guidance then reflect the feeding style you selected.
When should my baby start solid foods?
Most babies are ready around 6 months, once they can sit up with support, hold their head steady, and show interest in food. Starting solids before 4 months is not recommended. Always confirm timing with your pediatrician.
What are the best first foods for a baby?
Soft, iron-rich foods work well: iron-fortified infant cereal, well-cooked mashed meat or lentils, mashed avocado, sweet potato, and banana. Offer one single-ingredient food at a time so reactions are easy to spot.
How does the food safety guidance work?
BabyBites combines age-based food rules, allergy-aware checks, AI analysis, and preparation guidance. The food-safety scanner gives a clear Safe, Caution, or Unsafe result for fresh or packaged foods, with the reason and how to prepare it for your baby's age.
When and how should I introduce allergens?
Introduce common allergens early, around 6 months, once a few first foods are tolerated, one new allergen at a time, in small amounts, earlier in the day. BabyBites includes a Top-9 Allergen Introduction Coach. If your baby has severe eczema or a known allergy, consult your doctor first.
When can my baby have honey?
Never give honey, including cooked or baked honey, to a baby under 12 months, because of the risk of infant botulism. BabyBites builds this rule into its age-based safety guidance.
What is the difference between gagging and choking?
Gagging is a normal, noisy protective reflex where the baby coughs and moves food forward. Choking is silent or high-pitched with little air movement and needs immediate help. Learn infant first aid before starting solids.
Can I plan meals and shop from the same app?
Yes. Build a weekly plan, reuse saved meals, manage a category-sorted grocery list, and send purchased ingredients back into the meal generator.
Does BabyBites replace medical advice?
No. BabyBites is a planning and educational assistant. For medical concerns, severe allergies, feeding difficulties, or urgent symptoms, speak with your pediatrician or qualified healthcare professional.
Is BabyBites available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. BabyBites is available now on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
